LSU HPC Systems
In order to use the following LSU HPC computational resources, a user
must first request a LSU HPC account. Any LSU affiliate or a
collaborator of a LSU affiliate may request a LSU HPC account. An HPC
account may be requested from the
from the login
request page.
Production Systems
- Pandora: A 6.8 TFlops Peak Performance, 8 node, 32 (4 threads each) processor AIX v7.1 constellation from IBM with 3.3 GHz IBM POWER7 processors and 128 GB RAM per node. Status: Open for general
use to LSU users.
Notes for P5 users.
- Philip: A 3.469 TFlops Peak Performance, 37 node, 2 Quad-Core processor Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v5 cluster from Dell with 2.93 GHz Intel Nehalem Xeon 64bit processors and up to 96 GB RAM per node. Status: open for general
use to LSU users.
- Tezpur: A 15.322 TFlops Peak Performance, 360 node, 2 Dual-Core processor Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v4 cluster from Dell with 2.66 GHz Intel Xeon 64bit processors and 4 GB RAM per node. Status: open for general
use to LSU users.
- Pelican: A 1.946 TFlops Peak Performance, 16 node, 16 processor AIX v5.3 constellation from IBM with 1.9 GHz IBM POWER5+ processors and 32 GB RAM per node. Status: open for general
use to LSU users. Power4 nodes have been
decommissioned.
Decommissioned Systems
- Santaka: A 0.192 TFlops Peak Performance, single node, 32 processor ProPack 4 - SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (SLES9) SSI from SGI with 1.5 GHz Intel Itanium2 processors and 128 GB RAM per system. Status: open to LSU users
for file access only.
- SuperMike:
A 6.267 TFlops Peak Performance, 512 node, dual processor Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v3 cluster from Atipa Technologies with 3.06 GHz Intel Pentium IV Xeon processors and 2 GB RAM per node. Status:
decommissioned on June 4 2007. The headnodes are still
available for access to old data. Eric (eric.loni.org), a
LONI Linux cluster housed at LSU is made available to process
jobs.
- SuperHelix:
A 1.024 TFlops Peak Performance, 128 node, dual processor Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v3 cluster from Atipa Technologies with 2.0 GHz Intel Pentium IV Xeon processors and 2 GB RAM per node. Status:
decommissioned in January 2007.
- Nemeaux: A 0.256 TFlops Peak Performance, 32 node, dual processor Mac OS X v10.4 cluster from Apple with 2.0 GHz Apple G5 processors and 2 GB RAM per node. Status: decommissioned on
October October 16, 2009.
- MiniMike:
A 0.196 TFlops Peak Performance, 16 node, dual processor Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v3 cluster from Atipa Technologies with 3.06 GHz Intel Pentium IV Xeon processors and 2 GB RAM per node. Status:
decommissioned on June 4 2007.

Information Systems Building (ISB)
- Queen Bee:
A 50.7 TFlops Peak Performance, 680 node, 2 Quad-Core processor Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v4 cluster from Dell with 2.33 GHz Intel Xeon 64bit processors and 8 GB RAM per node. Housed at
ISB. According to the June, 2007 Top500 listing,
Queen Bee ranked the 23rd fastest supercomputer in the
world. Half of Queen Bee's computational cycles were contributed
to the TeraGrid community through
June 30, 2011. Status: open for general use to LONI users.
6 Dell 5 teraflop Intel Linux Clusters housed at 6 LONI member institutons
- Eric: A 4.772 TFlops Peak Performance, 128 node, 2 Dual-Core processor Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v4 cluster from Dell with 2.33 GHz Intel Xeon 64bit processors and 4 GB RAM per node. Housed at LSU. Status: open
for general use to LONI users.
- Oliver: A 4.772 TFlops Peak Performance, 128 node, 2 Dual-Core processor Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v4 cluster from Dell with 2.33 GHz Intel Xeon 64bit processors and 4 GB RAM per node. Housed at ULL. Status: open
for general use to LONI users.
- Louie: A 4.772 TFlops Peak Performance, 128 node, 2 Dual-Core processor Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v4 cluster from Dell with 2.33 GHz Intel Xeon 64bit processors and 4 GB RAM per node. Housed at Tulane. Status:
open for general use to LONI users.
- Poseidon:
A 4.772 TFlops Peak Performance, 128 node, 2 Dual-Core processor Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v4 cluster from Dell with 2.33 GHz Intel Xeon 64bit processors and 4 GB RAM per node. Housed at
UNO. Status: open for general use to LONI users.
- Painter: A 4.772 TFlops Peak Performance, 128 node, 2 Dual-Core processor Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v4 cluster from Dell with 2.33 GHz Intel Xeon 64bit processors and 4 GB RAM per node. Housed at LaTech. Status:
open for general use to LONI users.
- Sat(ellite): A 4.772 TFlops Peak Performance, 128 node, 2 Dual-Core processor Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v4 cluster from Dell with 2.33 GHz Intel Xeon 64bit processors and 4 GB RAM per node. Housed at SU. Status: not
currently available for use.
