LONI High Performance Computing Workshop--University of Louisiana at Lafayette(ULL)

HPC @ LSU will have a LONI High Performance Computing Workshop to be held in University of Louisiana at Lafayette, on November 27 & 28 2007. The workshop will be held in room 113 in the Advanced Computer Technology and Research Hall. The street address of the building is 301 East Lewis Street, Lafayette, LA 70503. The workshop will be an introductory workshop covering overview of LONI and TeraGrid, introduction to LONI HPC environment of IBM Power5 and Dell Linux machines at LONI, basic AIX/Linux operating system commands, introduction to Parallel Computing, introduction to MPI and advanced MPI, introduction to programming with OpenMP, introduction to Grid Computing, LONI Portal, optimization, debugging and profling of parallel code.

Prerequisites: Programming experience in C or Fortran (All examples will be in C and Fortran), a LONI account, a LONI Grid Certificate, and a laptop.

LONI Account: This workshop will be including hands-on execises on LONI supercomputers, therefore a LONI account is needed for each attendee. If you don't have a LONI account, please request one HERE. You have to put in a valid email address and a link to the account request form will be sent to that email address. You click the link in your email message and you will be directed to the account request form. Please fill that form to request a LONI account (You may put your advisor as your LONI Contact/Collaborator if you are a student, postdoctoral researcher or research associate).

LONI Grid Certificate: This workshop will introduce you to Grid Computing including hands-on exercises on LONI supercomputers, therefore a LONI Grid Certificate is needed for each attendee. If you don't have a LONI Grid Certificate, please request one following this instruction:

Laptop: This workshop will be including hands-on execises on LONI supercomputers, therefore each participant needs to bring a laptop with SSH or PuTTY installed. If you do not have a laptop, please contact Ryan G. Benton at rgb8817@cacs.louisiana.edu so that he can try his best to provide one for you.

This training will be a two day workshop introducing the user to High Performance Computing. University of Louisiana at Lafayette will provide lunch and refreshments for both day to all participants. Thanks ULL for the hospitality!
