Accounts

Note: LSU HPC and LONI systems are two distinct computational resources administered by HPC@LSU. Having an account on one does not grant the user access to the other.
All accounts must be associated with an institutional email address. Email addresses provided by commercial entities such as Google, Yahoo, Microsoft etc are not acceptable.

LSU HPC

In order to use HPC computational resources at LSU, users must first request an account. LSU faculty, research staff, graduate and undergraduate students, research collaborators, and other affiliates are eligible to request an account. Accounts and usage of the HPC@LSU resources are offered at no financial charge, but carry a value of approximately $0.1/core-hour.

By requesting a LSU HPC account, users acknowledge that they have read and understood the LSU HPC policy and agree to abide by them. Policies for Usage, Account & Allocations and Storage are provided here for your review.

Users are, however, asked to acknowledge their use of LSU HPC resources in resulting publications and reports with the following statement:

Portions of this research were conducted with high performance computational resources provided by Louisiana State University (http://www.hpc.lsu.edu).

LONI

In order to use the LONI computational resources, a user must first request a LONI account. Any LONI affiliate or a collaborator of a LONI affiliate may request a LONI account. If you don't have a LONI account, you can request one here. It is LONI policy that users require a valid institutional email address (gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc. are unacceptable).

By requesting a LONI account, users acknowledge that they have read and understood the LONI policy and agree to abide by them. Policies for Usage, Account & Allocations and Storage are provided here for your review.

Researchers are asked to acknowledge their use of LONI resources in any publications or reports that result from their research. The following statement should be included in any such work:

Portions of this research were conducted with high performance computational resources provided by the Louisiana Optical Network Initiative (http://www.loni.org).

Account Requests

LSU HPC

User accounts on LSU HPC Systems (SuperMike II, Tezpur, Philip, and Pandora) require a valid LSU email address (gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc. are unacceptable) and LSU affiliated sponsor. LSU students, postdoctoral researchers, or research associates may use their advisor as their sponsor. Non-LSU collaborators must be sponsored by a LSU faculty member or research associate and use their institutional email address (gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc are unacceptable). Upon making a request, a form will be emailed to you with a link to the account creation page. Once the form is submitted, and the information verified, the account will be created.

LONI

In order to use the LONI computational resources, a user must first request a LONI account. Any LONI affiliate or a collaborator of a LONI affiliate may request a LONI account. If you don't have a LONI account, you can request one at the LONI website.

Allocations

Note: LSU HPC and LONI systems are two distinct computational resources administered by HPC@LSU. You cannot charge LONI allocations for jobs run on LSU HPC systems and vice versa.

An allocation is a block of computer time measured in core-hours (number of processing cores requested times the amount of wall-clock time used in hours). Using HPC@LSU resources is free to all users. However, users need to have an allocation to charge simulation time.

LSU HPC

Users of HPC@LSU computational resources may be required to request an allocation of compute time for some resources.

LONI

LONI users must request an allocation by visiting the LONI Allocations website

All requests require submission of a proposal justifying the use of the resources.

For additional information see the policy page or for detailed instructions for joining an already existing allocation or requesting a new allocation, please see the FAQ page.
